With over two decades of experience, Chicco Aquino has built a unique career connecting music, culture, and collective experiences. Rooted in the independent scene and with musical training in New York, he has developed his own language that transcends genres, audiences, and territories.
About
Chicco Aquino lived in New York in 1995 where he began playing electric bass and taking lessons at The New School. Upon returning to Brasília, he became part of the Brasília independent music scene of the 90s and 2000s. In the studio, he recorded and produced albums for the original bands Ha Ono Beko and Piramidi. He composed soundtracks for the show Cidade em Plano by the dance group Anti Status Quo and for the short film Dia de Folga by filmmaker André Carvalheiro, winner of the Best Soundtrack category at the 39th Brasília Film Festival (2006). In 2003, he began producing events and working with turntables. He was a DJ and producer for singer and rapper Flora Matos through the Noções Unidas collective. He co-founded the Puroritmo Festival, a pioneering and avant-garde event focused on sustainability in Brazil. He began his DJ career playing African and Brazilian music before establishing himself as an Open Format DJ.
From Hip Hop to Soul, from Disco to House Music, from Rock to Jazz, from Pop to Funk or Brazilian Music, Chicco Aquino brings charisma, technique and credibility wherever he goes. Qualities that make him a unique artist: classic and always current.
